What Can I Put in My Charleston Dumpster Rental?

A common question we receive from our customers is, “what can I put in my dumpster?” When you call in to order your dumpster, our customer service representatives will ask you what you plan to throw in the dumpster, whether it is household waste or construction debris. It is very important that you do not mix these materials in the same container because construction and household debris need to be taken to separate landfills and transfer areas. If you are concerned about your neighbors using your dumpster, we suggest that you invest in some sort of tarp to go over the top of the container. You are responsible for everything inside the dumpster.

An important question to ask, or at least keep in mind, when renting a dumpster is, “what cannot go in the dumpster?” You are not allowed to use the dumpster to toss out any type of hazardous or flammable material. These include items such as wet paints, tires, food waste, oils, batteries, railroad ties, refrigerants, stumps, asbestos, infectious waste, contaminated soils and absorbents, inks and resins, fuel, and adhesives. If you have any of these items we recommend that you contact the Charleston Household Hazardous Waste Recycling center. If we find any of these prohibited items in your dumpster, you will be charged for the disposal of these materials.

Another important factor to keep in mind while loading your dumpster is the weight limit assigned to your specific dumpster. Depending on which dumpster size you request, you will be given a weight limit that cannot be exceeded. Our drivers are not legally allowed to pick up a visibly overloaded dumpster because it can cause damage to the truck and to the container itself. Please do your best to not overload the dumpster and evenly distribute the weight inside of the container. The dumpster comes equipped with a door that can open to allow you to easily wheel heavy materials into the container.
